thawed below denim held tight against a falling sun on low,
that leg finally gets enough attention and stretches out
to a more comfortable pose, off the shift in a loose thought
like the cat startled in her sleep by a creak in my knee
settling back without waking to move back into the light,
but without reaching far enough to clasp your hands in mine
across from me with your legs still bent beneath you,
your back against the wall to seek out other of your friends
