Keeping Track

The day I've wanted hangs just out of reach.
            Each
time I stretch, it moves farther away.
                  Day
in day out, when do I get the bounce?
                        *counts*
Whenever, I'll be prepared to pounce
on every single moment, front to back.
            I won't've lost a one. I'm keeping track.
                                    Each day counts.

after shuffling & sorting & doing inventory on what looks like it matters to any level, near as i can count i did at least a first draft on somewhere between 380-390 poems during november’s madness

i can’t just turn that off now that it’s december, so there will be fresh veggies here before spring – but during december of anything showing up here will be edits of some of the scraps drafted during november that in the mad rush failed to make it past scratching out the basics on a moleskine i carried around for when i was with david or at the shrinks or visiting my sister or any of the other places that pulled me away from the keyboard – this is one of the earliest of those outtakes, dating from nov 1

i’ll also be going back over all of my november traffic, even the most polished posted pieces, editing & reformatting & annotating & etc – if you are a subscriber receiving updates that include those edits, please excuse any traffic disruptions while i’m shifting things around

Quite enjoyed your poem and won’t mind at all the traffic problem…I live in SoCal so traffic problems is a way of life. 🙂
