Like Honey and Quinoa

Waking as our birds sense the darkness slip,
your arm over my back, you pressed to my hip,
your breath on my shoulder, cœur à cœur —
what more perfect a morning moment
                            could I ask you for?

He does know the morning will come when I will not wake.
He still gives me this one without trying to use it to take.

He doesn’t want me feeling indebted to him – I’m still free.
Long after I’m gone, my mornings with him will still be.
