Estate Sale

My books and the few odds and ends
won't fill your trunk. A few passes up and down
the stairs, thanks for your assistance, good job.

It will reflect. My last evaluation won't reveal
how very much, precisely the full extent
your influence meant, but take your cut.

My grandfather's ring, still as true as gold,
I'll wear this once. I have my ways and means
to defend. Keeps me on the move.

In another life I could have used the rest
of my belongings. But you know I'm sure
by what I take from what I'll leave behind.
